We're Friends Now

It doesn't happen often, every few years or so. I meet a couple that I click with in a way that feels so comfortable that it's as though we were friends first. Perhaps it's a result of doing this work for so long, but I avoid small talk like the plague and try to only ask questions that really allow me to get to know a couple on a deeper level and give me an insight into how they love. As a result I feel we have an easier time getting to the "good stuff" the vulnerable stuff, the candid stuff, the real laughs that are a result of my real jokes. To say I loved shooting Amanda and Kyle's wedding is an understatement, I fell in love with them as people throughout the planning and the day. I saw them in a way few friends get to at the start of any friendship, through the speeches of their loved ones given at their wedding.

I like to think that the reason I have such good luck working consistently with kind clients is that my work attracts people who love natural, organic interactions. People who can see the value in a photo that isn't just "pretty" but makes you feel something. I can't say whether it's my work or just plain luck, but I feel so fortunate that these two came into my life and that we get to traverse JPL adjacent rivers and farmers markets together now.

I adore you both and I'll see you next month. <3
