It Had to Be You

From the moment I walked into their hotel room the morning of the wedding it was clear Marc and James had been together a long time. They shared that dance you only find after a couple has spent years together, swaying through the morning while helping each other tie ties, button shirts and smiling every step of the way.

My favorite and least favorite thing about same sex weddings is that usually the couple gets ready together - don't ask me why - it's just a thing. No first look, no seeing each other walking down the aisle for the first time.

With these two I just couldn't help it - just after they had finished helping each other get ready I told them to turn around, breathe and then look at one another as though they hadn't spent the morning together - to take in this moment. James cried. Marc held him. I took the photos. I started to tear up and then got my shit together so we could keep going.

You might be looking at these images asking - where are those shots? Those images are theirs, they are intimate, raw and the perfect example of the beauty of my job - you'll just have to trust me, it was beautiful.
